Brewhouse edges She's My Warrior in Frances Genter

Brewhouse backed up a dominant debut win with a stakes victory Saturday night when she edged She’s My Warrior by a neck in the $60,000 Frances Genter at Canterbury Park.
The race for 3-year-old fillies was one of four stakes on the card. The races were all restricted to horses bred in Minnesota. Handle on the 10-race card was $3,229,658, which is the fourth-highest handle in track history, according to a press release from Canterbury.
Brewhouse ($6) was a 5 3/4-length winner of a maiden special weight on July 2 at Canterbury. She led throughout and used the same tactics in the Frances Genter. Brewhouse set fractions of 21.72 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.42 for the half-mile, before completing six furlongs on a fast track in 1:10.41.
Nik Goodwin was aboard for trainer Mac Robertson, who also saddled third-place finisher Gypsy Reward and fourth-place finisher Honey Bella.

Brewhouse is a daughter of Tapiture who races for Vicki McGowan and John Mertz. She is now 2 for 2 with earnings of $57,000.
In the other 3-year-old stakes on the card, the $60,000 Victor S. Myers, Doctor Oscar won his third straight race. He proved a length best over Love the Nest, while it was another head back in third to Happy Hour Bobby.
Doctor Oscar ($5.20) came into the Myers off back-to-back allowance wins. He used his speed to win those races and did so again in the Myers, as he was always prominent through fractions of 21.82 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.88 for the half-mile. Doctor Oscar covered six furlongs in a stakes-record time of 1:08.60, according to a press release from Canterbury.
Chad Lindsay was aboard the son of Shackleford for trainer David Van Winkle.
Peter Mattson owns Doctor Oscar, who has now won 4 of 6 starts for earnings of $116,238.
Berndt trainees sweep exacta
Midnight Current was a four-length winner over stablemate Let’s Skedaddle to make for a Joel Berndt-trained exacta in the $50,000 Minnesota Turf Distaff. Both horses race for Lothenbach Stables.
Midnight Current ($4.40) was making her stakes debut in the 7 1/2-furlong turf race for fillies and mares and set fractions of 23.86 for the opening quarter, 47.17 for the half-mile and 1:10.41 for six furlongs before covering the distance on firm ground in 1:28.
Harry Hernandez was aboard the daughter of Midnight Lute who has now won 5 of 11 starts for earnings of $129,600.
Zoe’s Delight ($12.60) was placed first in the $50,000 Ralph Strangis after the disqualification of Thealligatorhunter. The latter finished 1 1/4 lengths in front at the wire, but was placed third for a stretch incident. The action moved Hot Shot Kid from third to second in the race, which was for 3-year-olds and up at 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. The winning time was 1:28.78.
Luis Valenzuela rode Zoe’s Delight for trainer Tony Rengstorf. The son of Itsmyluckyday races for his breeder, Winchester Place Thoroughbreds.
