BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 9, 2017, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Although our 3-year-old Pick didn’t win, the 2016 BreezeFigs class pounded home six more maiden winners last week as their “official season” (i.e., posting cards), ended Labor Day. The winners came at Arlington, Gulfstream, Parx, Presque Isle, Retama and Saratoga (a BreezeFigs exacta, fittingly). The 2-year-olds kept rolling along with another 13 maiden winners plus a half-dozen stakes winners that were all on the cards (two at Del Mar, one each at Evangeline, Gulfstream, Monmouth and Saratoga). The important thing is that our Pick, Maraud, showed he was a good colt with an impressive win at what may, in retrospect, look like a generous $4.90. The maidens came home on top at Del Mar (three), Ellis Park (two, including a BrezzeFigs exacta), Finger Lakes (BreezeFigs exacta), Golden Gate (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream, Mountaineer, Presque Isle, Saratoga (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), and Woodbine. Saturday's juvenile card is juicy, but we found one that may be ripe to play. see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
2-year-olds:
Delaware Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 ½ Furlongs (Turf)
Two BreezeFigs fillies in here, one of which (Ultimate Challenge) is MTO and it doesn’t look like Hurricane Irma is going to come along in time to take this one off the weeds. That leaves Moon Dash, who attracted a final bid of $650,000 after breezing a quarter mile in 20.4 at OBSAPR for a seven-over-Par Group 2 rating, primarily because of her 26.31 foot stride length, which was two-and-a-half feet longer than average for fillies that day at a quarter mile. She is not the most graceful mover but looks like she should be able to handle the weeds and the two-turns will help her settle. This is a pretty toney field of fillies, so you might want to use her as a gimmick key. Good luck!
