BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 5th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Our Pix last week looked good for about a half mile and then Midnight Surfer got a bit wiped out by traffic and the greenies and Virga had nothing left. Still, it was a good day for BreezeFigs 2-year-old maidens as three won and another 10 came through during the week. There were four at Saratoga, including three BreezeFigs exactas (plus one stakes), three at Gulfstream, two at Del Mar and solos at Louisiana, Monmouth, Parx and Timonium. Over on the 3-year-old cards, seven broke their maidens, two each at Delaware, Gulfstream and Saratoga, and one at Parx. That’s a pretty good record, but the season ends for the 3-year-old BreezeFigs cards on labor Day. We happen to have a Pick for that card today, along with an intriguing one for the babies, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Picks:
2-year-olds - Kentucky Downs, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight 6 Furlongs (Turf)
This one is on North America’s most European turf course, and the six furlong course is a doozy. There are three BreezeFigs horses entered, but one is on the AE list and may not get a shot. Still, the other two look mighty fine. Airoforce is making his debut after posting an eight-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR and it featured a 24.87 foot stride length, a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He has the moves of a turfer and solid connections. Out of the Trappe posted a fairly decent one-over-Par Group 2 profile at the same sale at an eighth, but his 22.96 foot stride length was about a half-foot shorter than average. He ran well in his debut on the weeds, so pay attention. Rippin Ride is the one on the AE list and he posted a very good two-over-Par Group 2 number at OBSMAR with a half-foot-longer-than-average stride length of 24.62 feet—but was not sold (RNA) at 35k. He came back at EASMAY with a solid two-over-Par Group 1 profile, a 25.50 foot stride length at a quarter mile which was 1.66 feet longer than average that day. He stunk out the joint in his debut, but if he breaks in, look at him closely. We’ll key on Airoforce, though. Good luck!
3-year-olds - Monmouth Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
OK, how’s this for a farewell Pick? The aptly named Seuss makes his debut almost a year and a half after posting a seven-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR with a two-foot-longer-than-average 25.87 foot stride length. He looks OK on paper, and all of your friends and family will bet him anyway, so you might do that, too. Good luck!
