BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, September 4, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
We loved her but even we didn’t expect our Pick Electric Ride to destroy her field and pay eleven bucks while doing it. She is something, watch her. In addition to her, 10 other BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds won during the week at: Colonial; Del Mar (three more including a BreezeFigs exacta); Ellis’ Gulfstream (three on the same day, including a BreezeFigs super and a BreezeFigs exacta); Louisiana Downs and Monmouth (a $103 shocker who had a good profile). Four maiden BreezeFigs 3-year-olds won at Del Mar (two), Monmouth and Saratoga. Today’s cards are chock-a-block but since it’s closing weekend at Saratoga, we’ll go there for our Pix, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
3-Year-Olds:
Saratoga, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Turf)
This Pick is only for the turf—one of the BreezeFigs entrants, Scherzando, is MTO and if it comes off the turf you might use him. However, two of our previous Pix, War Smoke and Suit of Armor are making their second starts and should be your keys. War Smoke tossed in a horrible seven-under-Par Group 4 effort at OBSAPR and was promptly scratched (SCR) from the sale. He came back at EASMAY with an even-Par Group 2 with a 24.55 foot stride length (SL) that was close to his OBSAPR figure and just missed in his debut. Suit of Armor knocked out a five-over-Par Group 1 effort at OBSAPR with a 25.75 foot SL, a foot-and-a-half longer that average for colts that day. He was left at the gate in his debut but made an impressive run to finish fourth and became a “talking horse.” El Diablo is the first-timer in here and he came out of OBSAPR with an even-Par Group 2 ticket that featured a 25 foot SL, a quarter foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He should have speed from the start but we’d only toss him in as a gimmick while keying the other two.
2-Year-Olds:
Saratoga, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Dirt)
This is a pricey field going an distance that sometimes sees a bunch fall apart after six furlongs. Into the fray toss Misbehaved and Trafalgar, the only BreezeFigs colts in here and they may be decent keys. Misbehaved comes out of OBSAPR with an eight-over-Par Group 1 profile that featured a 25.10 foot SL, a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. The appropriately named Trafalgar came out on a previous day at the same distance and posted an even-Par Group 2 ticket with a 24.83 foot SL that was three-quarters of a foot longer than average. These two might be the type to make their moves inside the furlong pole and a worth considering as keys. Good luck!
