BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, September 29th

Bob Fierro|Sep 28, 2007
Last weeks Quick-Pix scored out fairly generously, we thought ($6.70 to win), and we even had two-thirds of the $110 Tri. This weeks card is loaded with juicy stakes races and some pretty interesting, potentially key, maiden races.

Remember, our rules still hold about BreezeFigs qualified runners: You can get a good idea of what qualified BreezeFigs horses are by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide on those sheets as well.

Here are bi-coastal stabs for you to consider this week:

Belmont Park, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs

Theres a likely hot fave here in the royally-bred Etched, a Darley homebred firster, but the two inside horses, Pure Devil and Overheated, are BreezeFigs plays that could upset the odds. Pure Devil put up a four-over-Par Group 1 fig at OBSMAR, where he showed a solid 24.4 ft SL. Overheated popped a four-over-Par Group 2 fig at EASMAY with a 25.2 ft SLat this sale, stride lengths were longer than at other sales, so that should be taken into consideration. Both are from clever outfits and are worth a punt or two. This could turn out to be a barn burner.

Bay Meadows, , Maiden Special, 5 ½ Furlongs

An almost identical situation here as at Belmont with two firsters from top stables. Hurricane Deputy showed good form at a quarter mile at OBSMAR where he popped over a solid one-over-Par Group 1 fig with an almost-average SL for that distance. However, Searchforthetruth threw in a one-over-Par Group 2 fig at the same sale at 1/8 mile and may have been more impressive with a well-above average 24.6 ft SL. You should give these two a lot of consideration straight and in gimmicks. Good luck!
