BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, September 24th, 2016 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

DRF Staff|Sep 23, 2016

Apologies offered. Somehow we misread the PP lines last week and identified our Pick Carson Kan as a first-timer—which he was not. He was making his second start, and this column concentrates on firsters—but he won easily and paid a generous $8.80. Nostra culpa. Otherwise it was a spectacular week for BreezeFigs maidens with seventeen others breaking their maidens with quite a few BreezeFigs gimmicks. In addition to Carson Kan, the winners came at: Belmont (three), Churchill, Delaware, Golden Gate (two, including an exacta), Gulfstream (three, including an exacta), Indiana (an exacta), Laurel, Los Alamitos, Monmouth (an exacta), Mountaineers, and Parx (both trifectas). BreezeFigs winners have got you surrounded. Saturday’s card is bursting at the seams, but there’s one which seems to offer a sneaky opportunity, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Gulfstream Park, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight (Florida-Breds), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

Five BreezeFigs fillies in here, four of which are making their debuts (we double checked). R Laguna Lucky is favored on the line and she showed nicely at OBSJUN with a three-over-Par Group 1 profile which featured a 24.32 foot stride length (SL), more than half-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day for a furlong. Brahms Cat came out of the same sale with a one-over-par Group 2 profile that featured an astounding 26.26 foot SL—more than two-and-a-half feet longer than average for fillies that day at one furlong. However, she has already made two starts and hasn’t seemed to display that talent yet, so these two from a weak sale might raise your eyebrows a bit. On the other hand, the other three come out of the stronger OBSAPR sale where Dressed in Heels showed best by posting a three-over-Par Group 2 profile at a furlong with a 24.22 foot SL, a foot longer than average that day for fillies at that distance. On another day Procuradora posted a one-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 22.17 foot SL—more than three-quarters of a foot shorter than average that day for fillies. Operatic went a quarter mile and posted a three-under-Par Group 4 profile with a 22.91 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot shorter than average that day. On the whole you probably want to concentrate on Dressed in Heel and R Laguna Lucky, with Brahms Cat thrown in as a saver. Good luck!
