BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 21, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our gimmick key worked last week as 46-to-1 shot Thissmytime pressed the pace in a surprising move and held on to complete a trifecta with the two favorites. It kicked off a wild week for BreezeFigs maidens as 17 of them came home first, several kicking off BreezeFigs gimmicks. The wins came at Belmont (three, two BreezeFigs superfectas and one BreezeFigs exacta), Churchill (three, including one BreezeFigs superfecta, one BreezeFigs trifecta), Delaware (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream (two), Los Alamitos, Monmouth (two), Parx (BreezeFigs exacta), Presque Isle, Thistledown (two) and Woodbine. Today we’ve chosen two hidden gems where the Pix are RNA’s (not sold) and therefore not in the PP’s as having been at the 2-year-old sales, which may give you an edge, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Delaware Park, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Speedy Hans posted a solid four-over-Par Group 1 number at OBSAPR with a 25.26 foot stride length (SL), which was a foot longer than average for colts that day at an eighth. However, he was not sold (RNA) at 65k and comes in here at 3-to-1, on the rail, and should be played any way you want. Self Taught came out of OBSMAR with a two-under-Par Group 4 ticket and a 24.12 foot SL, which was more than a third of a foot shorter than average, was not sold at 55k and was up the track in his debut; don’t know why he’s 6-to-1 in here. Over to you.
Churchill Downs, 3rd Race, Maiden Claiming ($150,000), 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
One BreezeFigs filly in this high-priced maiden claimer which can confuse those looking for a clandestine edge. Miss Firecracker may have that as she posted two Group 2 tickets at the two sales she was in at which she was not. On the dirt at EASMAY she posted a two-over-Par effort with a 23.40 foot SL, a bit short of average that day at a furlong. She was not sold for 47k. She came back on synthetic at OBSJUN where her five-over-Par effort featured a 23.08 foot SL, almost a foot shorter than average and she was left unsold at 19k. Maybe she likes the dirt and if so she will get a lot of clay at Churchill where she is strictly a gimmick play in an interesting rodeo. Good luck!
