BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, September 2, 2017 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Sep 01, 2017

Interesting developments in last week’s Pix. The 2-year-old, Hazit, was left as the only BreezeFigs colt in the race after the other two scratched, and he hammered the field at a most generous $8.60. On the other hand, the 3-year-olds were a mess as firster Changer ran modestly and the million dollar baby Inca Chief was nowhere to be found. Overall, you can see how the BreezeFigs cards have come down to the point where the 3-year-olds will disappear after the Labor Day card—there was only one that broke its maiden last week, and not because there were a ton of opportunities. No, it’s because there aren’t that many left who’ve started fewer than four times. As for the 2-year-olds, in addition to Hazit there were 15 others that broke their maidens: Del Mar (five, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Finger Lakes, Gulfstream (two), Indiana, Presque Isle, Saratoga (one more, a BreezeFigs exacta), Timonium (three) and Woodbine (a BreezeFigs trifecta). Also on the cards were two stakes winners on the same day at Saratoga, one of them a BreezeFigs trifecta, the other a first and third; and another stakes winner at Del Mar. Today there is no first-timer on the 3-year-old card, but as a farewell gesture, we found one that might be worth a token. The 2-year-old card is loaded, and there’s a potential key race there, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-year-olds:
Saratoga, 2ndt Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)

Three first time BreezeFigs colts, one, Bet It All To Win, is MTO; if the race comes off the grass he is not worth considering since he was scratched (SCR) from the sale after his four-under-Par Group 3 ticket at OBSAPR featured a 22.45 foot stride length (SL), a foot shorter than average for colts that day at a furlong. They are going to jump all over the rail horse, Oroscopo, a $325k “all the right connections” purchase after breezing another day at the same sale to register a two-under-Par Group 4 profile with a 23.20 foot SL, nearly three-quarters of a foot below average for colts that day at a furlong. On the other hand, up in Maryland at EASMAY Maraud brought $375k after posting a two-over-Par Group 1 profile with a basically even 24.07 foot SL for an eighth. Key this horse—he is a nice colt.
3-year-olds:
Gulfstream Park 3rd Race, Maiden Claiming ($12,500) 7 ½ Furlongs (Turf)

G.A. Forever is the only 3-year-old on the BreezeFigs card making his second start, which is close enough to a first timer, of which there are none. He posted a monster five-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN last year where his 25.57 foot SL was almost a foot-and-three-quarters longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He is not the most graceful mover, and his first start in April was at five furlongs, but this one is a bit longer. He obviously had problems to be running at this level, but he might be worth a small gimmick play with whichever others you choose. And with that we say “farewell to the 3-year-olds, you entertained us well.” Good luck!
