BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, September 19, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
The rains came and basically wiped out our prognostications at Gulfstream last week but we did get a piece of a gimmick with at least one of the Pix when Romantical Note clunked up to fill out a trifecta after drawing in from MTO. Overall it was an unusually quiet week for BreezeFigs maidens with four winners from both the 3-year-old and 2-year-old competitors. The 3-year-olds won at Arlington, Canterbury and Gulfstream (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta) while the juveniles chalked up wins at Arlington, Churchill, Kentucky Downs and Remington. Today’s cards are head scratchers but we found a very competitive contest among the 2-year-olds, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds
Laurel Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Turf)
Lady Clau, Pretty Lori and Shabang (AE) are the three BreezeFigs fillies in here and they are basically even in their profiles. Either of them could come home on top, but the other two might also figure. Lady Clau and Pretty Lori come out of OBSJUN both with one-over-Par Group 2 profiles after breezing a furlong on different days. Lady Clau chalked up a 24.42 foot stride length (SL) which was more than half a foot longer than average that day but she was not sold (RNA) for a very modest 6k. Pretty Lori had a 23.84 foot SL on her day which was almost a half-foot longer than average that day. Shabang, who tacked up a one-under-Par Group 3 profile at EASMAY, did it at a quarter mile where her 24.34 foot SL was more than half-foot longer than average. If she gets in we think she might be very contentious but we’ll tip the key to Pretty Lori whose way of going in her breeze said “please try me on the weeds.” Good luck!
