BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 12th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Our final Pick for the 3-year-olds turned out to be not-so-cat-in-the-bag, but our 2-year-old Pick came rumbling home as Airoforce galloped to a surprisingly generous $10 payoff. There were 11 other BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds who got home on top last week, including four at Monmouth and two at Saratoga along with solos at Charles Town, Del Mar (a BreezeFigs exacta), Ellis, Los Alamitos and Remington. In addition, four 2-year-old BreezeFigs horses won stakes—two at Del Mar, a trifecta at Woodbine and an exacta at Kentucky Downs., This week’s lone pick helps open the season at Churchill, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Churchill Downs, 11th Race, Maiden Special Weight 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Opening day, last race. Three BreezeFigs colts in here, one looking good, another OK, the other not so much. All breezed an eighth on the same day at OBSMAR with different results. Firster Private Appeal came out with a very nice three-over-Par Group 2 profile that featured a 25.06 foot stride length, over a foot longer than average that day for colts at one eighth. The other firster, Ranger Maxx, recorded an eight-under-Par Group 4 profile with a 22.10 foot stride length, a whopping 1.87 feet shorter than average. Metal Magic had a one-over-Par Group 2 profile with a 23.68 foot stride length, more than a quarter foot shorter than average, and he has one decent start and one stinker. We liked him first time out when he finished second, and we think he and Private Appeal should be in your gimmicks, with both perhaps keyed. Good luck!
