BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, September 1, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Our Pix last week were a little of this and a little of that. The juveniles, Greyes Creek and Lucid Dream, got caught up in a bit of traffic in a short field and True Yankee, the 3-year-old, got rolling late to just miss show but looks like a good bet next time. Overall, it was a really bizarre week in terms of the numbers, especially the 3-year-olds where 12 of them broke their maidens, almost unheard of this late in the year. That’s even stranger because there isn’t a first-timer on tomorrow’s card, and the 3-year-olds will disappear on Tuesday from the BreezeFigs cards (we figure if they haven’t won in four starts by September, they aren’t likely to carry on). Those wins came at Albuquerque, Ellis, Gulfstream (two), Indiana (BreezeFigs exacta), Penn National, Presque Isle, Remington (BreezeFigs exacta), Saratoga (three), and Timonium. There were also a dozen 2-year-olds who broke their maidens, at: Arlington, Delaware (three), Del Mar (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Saratoga (three, including a BreezeFigs trifecta) and Woodbine. Saturday's 2-year-old card is loaded with horses we liked in other columns, but there are also two firsters that might pique your interest, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

Del Mar, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

The word must be out on Gum Tree Lane because this $320k OBSAPR graduate is 5-to-2 in the morning line. We like him, too, based on his even-Par Group 2 effort that included a 26.10 foot stride length (SL), a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Lacazette, the other BreezeFigs entrant, had a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR but his 23.38 foot SL was more than three-quarters of a foot shorter than average that day at a furlong. He didn’t show much in his debut but might be worth a gimmick play but it looks like Gum Tree Lane is your key here.

Parx Racing, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

Spotmeifucan goes here at 12-to-1 on the morning line and he looks somewhat tasty on his three-over-par Group 2 effort at OBSJIUN where his 25.64 foot SL was almost a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. You might want to tickle the key button with him in this race. Good luck!
