BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, October 28, 2017 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Sorry about last week—we were on our way back from London where we introduced the Europeans to the BreezeFigs system and couldn’t meet our deadline while over the Atlantic. However, our Pick the week before resulted in another BreezeFigs exacta when Tap Rite Strike and Tattered finished 1-2 for a $14.40 exacta at Parx. This week saw 13 BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds win, at: Belmont, Finger Lakes, Gulfstream West (four, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Keeneland (two), Meadowlands, Parx (BreezeFigs trifecta), Santa Anita, Thistledown, and Woodbine. Today’s card is all over the place with a number of interesting plays at Belmont, where we found one which could be a sneaky surprise, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Belmont Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Turf)
This one has six BreezeFigs fillies entered, three of which are making their second starts after coming out of the EASMAY sale. One of those, Circle the Bases, is on the AE and though she has a decent first time start out at seven furlongs on the weeds, she tired late so her one-over-Par Group 2 profile seems to have predicted that as she threw in a 22.79 foot stride length that day, almost half-a-foot shorter than the average for fillies at a quarter mile. Dream Fever also came out of that sale with a one-over-Par Group 2 profile, but that came at a furlong and her 23.80 SL was more than half-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day. Shanghai Jewel posted an even-Par Group 2 profile on a different day with a 23.60 foot SL, about average that day, but she was not sold (RNA) for 72k and her debut was so-so. The other three are first-time starters, two of which, Paranoia and Venkat, just don’t seem to have the goods for this competition. The former was scratched (SCR) at OBSAPR after posting a four-under-Par Group 3 number and an about average 23.14 foot SL. Venkat had a two-under-Par Group 3 profile at the tonier FTFMAR sale but her 22.57 foot SL was more than half-a-foot shorter than average that day. That leaves Gold Zipper. She may not be the second coming, but she brings a two-over-Par Group 2 profile behind her from OBSMAR where her 24.29 foot SL was almost a foot-and-a-quarter longer than average that day. She was scratched (SCR) after breezing, so she doesn’t show that sale in her PP’s. At 12-to-1, even though she’s on the rail, she looks to be the key here in a race which is going to come down to who stays out of trouble longer—and you might want to throw in Dream Fever and Shanghai Jewel in the gimmicks Good luck!
