BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, October 19, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Like our previous week’s Pix, one “key” worked and the other one didn’t. but we were pleasantly surprised by the $11 payoff that Champit posted at Woodbine after his very nicely time late move brought him home on top. He was one of 17 BreezeFigs maidens that won during the week, several of which kicked off major gimmicks. The other winners came at Belmont (two), Gulfstream West (four including a BreezeFigs exacta, a BreezeFigs trifecta and a BreezeFigs super), Indiana (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Keeneland (four), Parx (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Santa Anita and another at Woodbine. Today’s card is all over the place but we found a little gem, perhaps, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Keeneland, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
First time starter Marvin comes in here having shown himself off at two sales, first at EASMAY where his one-over-Par Group 1 ticket featured a 25.22 foot stride length (SL), a bit more than a foot longer than average that day for colts at a furlong. He was scratched (SCR) from the sale after that breeze, however, and was wheeled back at OBSJUN where his nine-over-Par Group 1 profile featured a 25.75 foot SL, also a bit more than a foot longer than average. He is 10-to-1 in the morning line and looks mighty tempting here. Hansens Mischief is the only other BreezeFigs colt in the race and he has done moderately well in two starts which basically reflect his two-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSJUN where his 23.86 foot SL was more than three-quarters of a foot shorter than average that day. He was not sold (RNA) on a final bid of 145k. We like Marvin as the key here and you might want to play around with Hansen’s Mischief in the gimmicks. Good luck!
