BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, October 17th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Turns out Sensible Match was a sensible gimmick play as our Pick last week took the lead at the start from the rail, which we did not expect but was probably smart, and then held on grudgingly through the lane to complete a $42 exacta at 8-to-1 odds. There were 19 BreezeFigs maidens who won last week, including five who teamed up with another BreezeFigs horse in an exacta, and two who kicked off BreezeFigs trifectas: Belmont (three, with two exactas), Delaware, Gulfstream West (three), Indiana, Laurel (two), Keeneland (three, one exacta), Parx (two, one exacta), Penn, and Santa Anita had four, including an exacta and three trifectas. In addition, the Anaokia Stakes at that track resulted in a BreezeFigs trifecta. Today’s card has a number of races with playable first-timers, and we’ve found one that might so, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Belmont Park, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Turf)
If the odds on Cast Iron resemble the morning line 12-to-1, this could be a nice payoff. This colt posted a one-over-par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR with a 24.59 foot stride length, just a bit above average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Midnight Surfer, who is the most logical contender, is Main Track Only, but it ain’t gonna rain, folks Jan’s Reserve has basically run to his one-under-Par Group 3 profile at FTFMAR so far where his 25.34 foot stride length was 1.35 feet longer than average, but he was slow. Sixbits makes his debut off a two-under-Par Group 3 profile at OBSAPR where his 23.00 foot SL was just a tad under average for colts that day at one eighth. The latter two might be pegged as watch-the-board gimmick plays, but Cast Iron looks like a solid gimmick play here even considering his outside post. Good luck!
