BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, October 16, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our 2-year-old Pix last week were sort of a split decision wherein in one race they bombed and in the next race our choice was almost ahead a few yards from the wire and then got swallowed up by three others to finish in a four-way photo to complete a generous superfecta. Otherwise it was a normal week for BreezeFigs maidens with 10 of them winning at: Belmont (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta); Gulfstream (three, including a BreezeFigs trifecta); Laurel (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta); and solos at Hawthorne, Indiana and Santa Anita. Five 3-year-olds broke their maidens at Belmont (two), Delta, Meadowlands and Penn. Interesting cards today which gave us an opportunity to select one from each, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
3-Year-Olds:
Belmont Park, 1st Race, Maiden Claiming ($30k), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
We think the answer to the name Where’s Joey will be “in the winner’s circle” after this one. He scored a five-over-Par Group 1 ticket last year at OBSJUN with a basically average 23.77 foot stride length (SL), and is in here for the price that was the last bid when he went through the ring not sold (RNA). Might be worth a key in a weak field.
Keeneland, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)
First-timer Bickell comes in here with a three-over-Par Group 2 profile from OBSAPR where his 25.43 foot SL was a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He did better that day at that distance than Hashtag No Wonder who finished up with an even-Par Group 2 and a 24.10 foot SL, about a quarter foot shorter than average--he performed modestly in his first two starts. Corrente de Ouro piled up a smashing 10-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN with a 26.01 foot SL, more than a foot and three-quarters longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He had a bit of trouble in his debut and he and Hashtag No Wonder are your watch-the-board gimmick chances but Bickell might be good enough as your key. Good luck!
