BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, October 13, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
All three in our Pick last week picked up a check, finishing second, third and fourth to complete all the gimmicks, but it was a bad race all around except for the serious dropdown, Haydens Havoc, who was second. Meanwhile, the week itself was quite good for BreezeFigs maidens with 19 of them winning, several kicking off very good gimmicks. The winners came at Belmont (four, including two BreezeFigs superfectas), Delaware (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream West (seven, yes seven), Indiana (BreezeFigs exacta), Keeneland (three), Laurel and Santa Anita (two, including a BreezeFigs trifecta). In addition, there were three BreezeFigs stakes winners including Knicks Go, that $142 bomb at Keeneland (who was, incidentally, a Group 1 horse at OBSAPR). Later in the week there was a BreezeFigs exacta in the Jessamine at the same track. Saturday's card is all over the place, but there’s one race that may pique your interest, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Keeneland, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Three BreezeFigs colts in here including a 10-to-1 first timer, Declined, who has a bit of a spotty sales history but is well positioned to be a key. He was an even-Par Group 1 at FTFMAR with a 24.46 foot stride length (SL), just under the average for that day, but was led out of the ring not sold (RNA) at $135k. He came back at EASMAY with a two-under-Par Group 3 performance that was a bit misleading because he did it with a whopping 26.07 foot SL, which was 1.64 feet longer than average that day, and he was impressive. Explorationist is at 4-to-1 based on his promising debut and strong connections, but his FTFMAR ticket as a three-under-Par Group 3 with a 22.84 foot SL, almost a foot and three quarters shorter than average that day. Who knows? Clench was a one-over-Par Group 2 at OBSAPR with a super 26.55 foot SL, which was more than a foot and three quarters longer than average at a quarter mile that day, but was unsold for 145k—and was up the track in his debut. We really think if he gets a good trip that Declined could be your key but you might want to key Explorationist in as well. Good luck!
