BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, October 12, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
One “key” worked and the other one didn’t, but if you were watching the board you pretty much knew that Specially might be the special one in our Pick last week. Indeed she was as she ran off with it after being gently pounded from 5-to-1 to 2-to-1. She was one of 17 BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds that won last week in a spread of the wealth all across the continent, at: Belmont (two), Delaware, Delta (BreezeFigs exacta), Fresno, Gulfstream West (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), another at Keeneland, Laurel, Presque Isle, Santa Anita (three, two of which were on last were on last Saturday’s card), Thistledown (BreezeFigs trifecta), Woodbine and Zia (BreezeFigs exacta). That’s a road trip for you! Today’s card has tons of opportunities and we found two that are quite intriguing, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Meadowlands, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
Might get some weather here but regardless if he stays in the race you could see something special in Mobeatyabad. This one came out of EASMAY with a six-over-Par Group 1 profile and a 24.59 foot stride length (SL), which was more than half a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. However, he was scratched (SCR) after that breeze and did not go through the ring, but he’d shown enough for us to give a thumbs up—and his connections will certainly help. Alite posted a two-under-Par Group 3 number at OBSJUN and was scratched after that work in which he posted a 23.57 foot SL, more than a foot shorter than average that day. He was bumped at the start in his debut, but he still doesn’t figure here in a race where, if he’s healthy, Mobeatyabad is the key.
Woodbine, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Synthetic)
Two nice BreezeFigs first timers in here who come out of OBSAPR with Group 2 profiles. Champit did it at a quarter mile where his four-over-Par ticket featured a 25.57 foot SL, more than a foot and a half longer than average that day at the distance for colts. Racing in the Rain worked on another day at a furlong and posted a one-over-Par number with a 24.20 foot SL, a half-foot shorter than average for colts that day at the distance. He was not sold (RNA) on a final bid of 75k. Champit will be played because of his connections but we liked the way Racing in the Rain moved in his breeze better. You might want to key both of them in a race that has no clear favorite. Good luck!
