BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, October 1, 2016 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

DRF Staff|Sep 30, 2016

The “saver” did it for us as Brahms Cat chugged home to a $19.40 payoff last week to make us look slightly smart in a race where our two top Pix went awry—one of them eased and walked off the track. Alas. Still, it was another good week for BreezeFigs maidens as 15 others broke through to win including Heart Astray, a perfectly playable $103 number at Presque Isle. The others came at Belmont (a $280 BreezeFigs trifecta), Charles Town, Churchill (three), Delaware, Gulfstream, Indiana, Laurel, Los Alamitos (two), Monmouth (two, including a $27 trifecta), and Retama. Saturday’s card has almost 100 horses to choose from, and we found a race where it might be propitious to play, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Santa Anita, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

Three BreezeFigs colts in here, two of which make their debuts. Though a colt, Comma Sister may seem misnamed but he impressed a bit at OBSJUN with a three-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 25.37 foot stride length (SL) which was more than a foot and a quarter longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Blabimir lit up the board at OBSMAR with a 15-over-Par (yes, 15) Group 1 profile and a 25.99 foot SL, more than a foot and a half longer than average for colts that day at one eighth. However, he did not sell (RNA), bringing a final bid of 145k. He has a challenge being on the rail (Comma Sister is next to him) and if he is pressed might not hold up. Then there is Monster Man, whose debut was a mess—but should not be ignored. He threw in a disappointing two-under-Par Group 3 performance at BARMAR with a desultory 23.78 foot SL, almost a foot below average for colts that day. However, he does have talent and might be a gimmick play. We like Comma Sister here but each of them is worth a gimmick play—maybe together. Good luck!
