Two first-timers look intriguing in this race, regardless of whether or not it remains on the turf. Neither breezed on the turf at the 2-year-old sales, but both showed enough talent to have you consider them in this totally wide-open race. Flash of Silver earned a monster nine-over-Par Group 1 BreezeFig at OBSMAR going 1/8 mile, showing a very long 24.32 foot stride length in the process. Carli's Glitter earned a very decent five-over-Par Group 2 BreezeFig at the slightly less classy OBSAPR sale with a 23.60 foot stride length at the same distance. We like to see above-average stride lengths at 1/8 mile especially in long races because it indicates that a horse can get position early and cruise along until ready to move. Look these two over for the gimmicks and maybe a straight play.
