Breezefigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, November 7, 2020 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Little Blaze, the lone first-timer in our Pick last week and the one with the best BreezeFigs profile, went off at 47-to-1 and even though she had a rough trip every step of the was still got up to be second making her a really nice gimmick and straight play. There were 15 BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds that won during the week all over the place at: Belmont (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Churchill (three), Golden Gate (two), Gulfstream West (four), Indiana, Laurel (two) and Parx. The 3-year-olds are still kicking around with five of them winning out of the 19 races in which they appeared, at: Belmont, Charles Town, Churchill, Del Mar and Parx. Today’s card is a bit light in quality due to the Breeders’ Cup, but we found one play that might be worth it, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds
Del Mar, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Cleverly named Lunatic comes into this one on the rail with a nine-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR where her 26.31 foot stride length (SL) was more than a foot and three-quarters longer than average for fillies that day at a quarter mile, She is in clever hands and could go off at considerably less than her 3-to-1 morning line but is an obvious key. Mama Superior as two shots at BreezeFigs glory this year, first at OBSMAR where her eight-over-Par Group 1 profile featured a 24.66 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a length longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. However, she was not sold (RNA) at 17k. She was wheeled back at OBSJUN where she also posted a Group 1 profile, this time two-over-Par, with an almost identical 24.69 foot SL, about the same longer-than-average length as her other performance. This time she never made it to the sales ring, being scratched after breezing. Her debut was a stinker and she’s 30-to-1 here, but might be worth a toss in the gimmick column if the board says OK. Good luck!
