BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, November 28th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Sorry ‘bout dat: While we did recommend you key on Danebury and Just Afleet in last week’s Pick, we did not give much credence to New York Song, and yet he won, beating out Danebury in a $136 BreezeFigs exacta—with Just Afleet completing a two-thirds BreezeFigs $12,653 superfecta. Hope you spread your money around in another reminder that BreezeFigs gimmicks appear more often than you might think. For example, on the same card at Aqueduct, there was a $187 BreezeFigs exacta in the sixth race; earlier in the day at Parx, there was a $14 BreezeFigs exacta and $52 (for two bucks) BreezeFigs trifecta in the opener; and the day before at Woodbine, a $32 BreezeFigs exacta in the sixth. There were two other BreezeFigs maidens who won at Aqueduct during the week, with solos at Del Mar, Gulfstream West and Laurel. Today’s card is loaded tons of juvenile races at Aqueduct, Churchill and Gulfstream West, many of which are allowances and stakes, but we found an interesting maiden event, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Gulfstream Park West, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Four BreezeFigs maidens in this race, all of them first time starters, all of them with a shot. Dearest blew to a nine-over-Par Group 1 rating at OBSMAR but her 23.70 foot stride length (SL) was an eighth of a foot below average that day for fillies at one furlong. Looking at Beauty and Luz Mimi both went a furlong at OBSAPR on different days. Looking at Beauty clocked in with a one-over-Par Group 2 profile, but her 22.26 foot SL was more than half a foot shorter than average that day for fillies. Luz Mimi’s two-over-Par Group 2 effort the previous day featured a 22.77 foot SL, but that was also below average by about a third of a foot. A couple of days later, R Girls a Charmer went a quarter mile to earn her one-over-Par Group 2 ticket—and her 25.06 foot SL was almost a foot longer than average for fillies at a quarter that day. She may need to settle and get intro stride while the other go out an knock themselves silly, but she still looks like a very good key to us with the others mix-and-match in gimmicks depending on the board. Good luck!
