BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, November 25, 2017, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Never have so many of our Pix stopped on a dime as they did last week when both of our races went into the trash as speed said bye-bye at the half mile pole in one case and at the eighth pole in another. On the bright side, 17 BreezeFigs maidens did win during the week so it wasn’t a total loss: Aqueduct (three, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Charles Town, Churchill (two), Gulfstream (two), Laurel (two), Mahoning Valley (two on the same day), Parx (three), Remington and Woodbine. In addition, the Desi Arnaz Stakes at Del Mar was a BreezeFigs exacta-trifecta. Saturday's card is overloaded with confusion, so we thought we’d focus on one possible “gimme” for a change, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park West, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
This is unusual in that both BreezeFigs fillies are by Into Mischief, who is so hot now the board lights up when they go into the paddock. Ironically, they are both making their first start and they are two of the three favorites. Into the Stars is listed at 2-to-1, but her PP’s don’t carry the fact that she was not sold at 95k (RNA) after chalking up a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at EASMAY with a 23.62 foot stride length (SL), an eighth-of-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. Boranda is listed twice—first when she was listed as sold for 25k at OBSAPR after posting a one-under-Par Group 4 ticket with a 23.55 foot SL, about a quarter foot shorter than average that day at a quarter mile. She came back at OBSJUN and was reported sold again, this time for 27k, but her BreezeFigs profile at a furlong was a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 24.45 foot SL, more than half-a-foot longer than average that day for fillies at the distance. She’s listed at 3-to-1 so someone must know, or think, something. Might was well box them and watch the board if you want to key them. This race has some potentially nice fillies in it and could be a key race. Good luck!
