BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, November 21, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
It appears that our keys last week decided to thumb their noses at us, but at least our gimmick choices at Aqueduct resulted in a win and partial trifecta and superfecta. Other than that it was a fairly decent week for BreezeFigs maidens with six of the 3-year-olds getting off the schneid at Del Mar (two), Laurel, Penn and Remington (two). What’s interesting is that they won six of the 14 races in which BreezeFigs maidens appeared, so the sophomores are still doing well. As far as the 2-year-olds are concerned a dozen of them won at: Aqueduct (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Churchill, Del Mar (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream West (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Parx, Remington and Woodbine. Today’s cards are a bit bare when it comes to first timers with credentials, but we found one with a bunch of potential, see below. Happy Thanksgiving, stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds
Laurel Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Six of the dozen entrants in here are BreezeFigs fillies, five of them making their debuts—two of which have a decent chance of taking home the prize in a race where there could be a good payoff. We like two OBSAPR fillies best. Journeytothemoon, posted a one-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 25.58 foot stride length (SL), almost a foot and three-quarters longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. However, she was not sold (RNA) at 45k. On a different day Shannon posted a six-over-Par Group 2 ticket at the same distance with a 24.33 foot stride Length (SL) was just above average for fillies that day at a furlong. She, too, was RNA’d, at a juicy 290k. The other three first-timers—Ephemeral, Factor In and Marvella Nasty—all had very short SLs so they might not be able to compete with the top two. The same is true of second-timer Cookies and Cream whose debut has prompted her to be 9-to-2 in the morning line, but she was well off the winner reflecting her 21.78 foot SL at OBSJUN. We’d key Shannon and Journeytothemoon here and hope for a payoff that will be more than enough to bring home a large turkey. Good luck!
