BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, November 2, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
To say that we were ready to throw something at the screen when we saw that our Pick, The Virginian, was hustled immediately to challenge the hot, very fast, favorite out of the gate would be somewhat of an understatement because we suspected that our choice needed to settle and close. We may prove to be correct next time out because these two cooked each other though our horse did complete a modest superfecta. Elsewhere fourteen BreezeFigs juveniles broke their maidens last week, only one of which kicked off a BreezeFigs gimmick, but you can’t win them all. The winners came at Belmont, Charles Town, Churchill, Finger Lakes, Gulfstream West (three), Hawthorne, Keeneland (three, including that BreezeFigs exacta), Parx and Santa Anita (two). How’s that for a coast-to-coast record? Today’s card is full of opportunities but we found one that might just work, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Aqueduct, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds) 1 1/16 Miles Furlongs (Turf)
This is a field of underachievers so far with two of them good enough on the BreezeFigs numbers along with first timer Empire Express to invite examination. The latter comes in here with a six-over-Par Group 2 profile at EASMAY where his 24.44 foot stride length (SL) was a quarter foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. The underachievers we like are Legend of Bam and Bellarmine Hall. The former posted a four-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSMAR where his 24.41 foot SL was just above average. He was bothered at the start in his last race but looked ok in his debut. Then there is Bellarmine Hall whose three-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSJUN featured a 25.78 foot SL, a foot-and-a-half longer than average—he’s been wiped out at the start in both his races. The other three BreezeFigs horses, Michael’s Bad Boy, Stash My Money and firster Tempesta don’t impress us at this time. We’d actually key Empire Express and watch the board to see if the other two we liked should sneak into your gimmicks. Good luck!
