BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, November 19th, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

DRF Staff|Nov 18, 2016

We are holding our breath here. That’s because last week’s Pick was the third in a row that won—and this one also included a trifecta if you’d keyed the winner Petrov (whom we loved and paid $13.40) with third place Beachtown Benny ($239 payoff). There were 16 other BreezeFigs maidens that came home on top during the week, including some which threw nice payoffs. The winners came at Aqueduct; Churchill (three others besides Petrov); Del Mar (two, including a $64 firster on Friday and a trifecta on Saturday); Gulfstream West (seven, plus a two stakes, one a BreezeFigs exacta); Laurel, and Woodbine (two). There are several very interesting firsters all over the place Saturday, including at Aqueduct, Fair Grounds and Woodbine, but we’ve found a very intriguing opportunity, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Del Mar, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

This could be a key race since there are some very promising homebreds and yearling purchases in here as well as three BreezeFigs colts, two of whom are making their debut. Bobby Abu Dhabi punched an eight-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSAPR with a 24.30 foot stride length (SL), which was almost three-quarters of a foot longer than colts that day at a furlong. He might be more suited for the turf, but his outside post may allow him to settle without trouble and get there. Adorned comes out of the OBSMAR sale with a four-over-Par Group 2 profile that featured a 24.52 foot SL, which was just above average for colts that day. He’s not the smoothest mover in the world but might be able to gather himself up if not pushed too early. The Party Factor came out of OBSAPR with a one-under-Par Group 3 profile but a huge 25.58 foot SL, a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. That’s a mixed profile and his first race was in August where he tired after being there early, so he might have some issues being pressed too soon. Bobby Abu Dhabi looks like he could do it and his morning line looks like he might not be a secret. He is definitely a key and you might want to watch the board to see if you can mix and match him with Adorned and The Party Factor. Good luck!
