BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, November 17, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
First a mea culpa: We put the wrong race number on our Pick last week but we’re pretty sure most of you realized it was the 11th race, not the 9th at Gulfstream Park West. Then we thought our exacta box recommendation was a bit of a shot in the dark somewhere around the quarter pole as favored Mercusio lengthened his advantage while our sneaky long shot He’s Smokin Hot was forced way outside—but wadda ya know? He came along nicely at 30-to-1 to complete a stone cold $64 Quick-Pix exacta. Along the way it was a very nice week for other BreezeFigs maidens as well as another 6 others came home on top at: Aqueduct (five, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Charles Town, Churchill (two), Del Mar (three), Gulfstream Park West (another BreezeFigs exacta), Golden Gate, Laurel (BreezeFigs exacta), Parx (BreezeFigs exacta) and Woodbine. Today’s card could be affected by weather, but there’s a nice race to try, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Del Mar, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight,, 7 Furlongs (Dirt)
This is likely to be a key race with several well-bred and connected babies, one of which looks mighty tempting at 5-to-1 in the morning line. That would be Light of the World on the rail, a seven-over-Par Group 1 monster who tossed in a 25.84 foot stride length (SL) at OBSMAR, a foot and a quarter longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He’s stuck on the rail but we think this could be a quality colt. Trial by Fire, the other BreezeFigs first-timer, threw in a deceptive one-under-Par Group 3 profile at OBSAPR where his 24.69 foot SL was more than half a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He looks like a gimmick throw-in but Light of the World is the key. Good luck!
