BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, November 10, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
When our Pick, Ma Bella, was scratched last week we thought the next two we liked might come forward to save us. Alas, it was the one we didn’t like. Discrete Stevie B, who helped light up the exacta and trifecta numbers for BreezeFigs players as our gimmick toss-in, Sass Machine finished third and our second choice, La Dolfina, finished somewhere in Nevada. It was a week where BreezeFigs maidens won seven races at Aqueduct, Churchill, Gulfstream West, Mahoning Valley, Parx , Santa Anita and Woodbine (the latter two kicking off BreezeFigs exactas). In addition, 10 others that were on various cards won or placed in stakes races including one BreezeFigs exacta Today’s card is loaded with opportunities but also is likely to be affected by the weather. We’ve come up with one that might not need any adjustments for track conditions, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park West, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight,, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
As you know, we concentrate on first-time starters here but note that second time starter Mercusio is going to go off favorite here because of his solid debut. But he also deserves it because of his five-over-Par Group 1 effort at OBSJUN where his 24.83 foot stride length (SL) was three-fifths of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. However, the only other BreezeFigs runner is first-timer He’s Smokin Hot and he could be a solid gimmick play based on his even-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR where his 24.62 foot SL was a quarter foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Since he’s almost even with Mercusio on SL numbers, this could be interesting depending on tactics, so you might want to box the two of them and work other combinations as you see fit. Good luck!
