BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 9th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
He didn’t make it look too pretty as he struggled to the wire, but the $9.20 return Still Standing produced was not only a bit surprising considering his connections, but also gratifying for our Pix record. It was a very good week for BreezeFigs horses all over the place, with Firing Line and Dortmund placing in the Kentucky Derby, two Graded SWs at Churchill and both stakes on Parx Derby-Oaks Day, plus a dozen maidens who lost their best friend. The maiden winners came at Belmont, Churchill, Parx, Pimlico, Prairie Meadows, Santa Anita (two), Tampa Bay (two), Thistledown and Woodbine (two). Summer meets are getting under way across the country and we have an Opening Day special for you at Monmouth Park, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Monmouth Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs, (Dirt)
This one has a couple of BreezeFigs colts with one of them, Iamahandsome Man having made two promising starts, and the other, first-timer New York Victory, looking like he might be worth a fling. The latter threw in a Group 1 even-Par profile at a furlong at EASMAY, but his stride length of 25.08 feet was somewhat outrageous—more than a foot-and-a-half longer than average that day for colts at the distance, tough to do on a half-mile track. He has a pure New York pedigree and the wrong name for New Jersey, but he is 15-to-1 in the morning line and looks tasty as a solid gimmick play. Iamahandsome Man, on the other hand, bombed out at OBSMAR with a six-under-Par Group 3 profile with a 22.29 foot SL that was a foot below average that day. He was listed as sold for 40k, but came back again at OBSJUN with a two-over-Par Group1 number with a 23.73 foot SL, just about average for the day, and was listed as sold for 30k. Go figure. He may be handsome and his two races will help him, and you might consider using both these guys in your gimmicks. Good luck!
