BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, May 5th

Bob Fierro|May 04, 2007

Second week in a row--we gave you a stone-cold BreezeFigs trifecta last week in a 3YO maiden at Churchill and a cold BreezeFigs exacta in a 2YO maiden at Golden Gate, but this week we really only have two horses for you to throw into your bets from a pretty crowded BreezeFigs card. Both are RNAs which means the PP's won't show they were at 2-year-old sales. Remember, please take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there.

And, whoever you like in the Kentucky Derby, you might want to use that horse with Cowtown Cat, whom we think could get there or thereabouts in a very, very wide open race.

Belmont Park, , Maiden Special, Mile (Turf)

Peace Mon showed a strong 24-foot stride length in his quarter-mile breeze last year at EASMAY, which was enough for his connections to take him home because he did not reach his reserve (RNA) at $375,000. You give up money like that, you might know something. He has the connections, he had a good BreezeFig, and he might be ready first-time out. If he gets in from the AE's, you might want to put a saver on Pure Revenge, whose first turf race last out was not bad--he was virtually dead-even with Peace Mon on all the figs at EASMAY and has two races under his belt.

Delaware Park, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

Motovato was the name of a very good miler in England about 25 years ago, and though the horse we kind of like in this race has the same name, he might not be that good. This Motovato comes out of the OBSMAR sale five weeks ago where he failed to meet his reserve (RNA) at 55k after putting in a marginal one-under-Par BreezeFig at 1/4 mile. But that was really a very decent move and is within our margin of acceptability at this sale, and you just don't know what kind of opposition he's facing here. He's by a potentially hot new sire, and he could be a very nice punt here if you use him in your gimmicks.
