We're up against Steve Assmussen (homebred) and Todd Pletcher (pricey yearling), both of whom have firsters by Unbridled's Song (in the #1 and #2 posts), but we like the "gimmick" chances of three fillies who came out of the same sale (OBSMAR), one of which was an RNA. Gold Minx has already started and improved position in a race won by a hot firster at Keeneland; she had two breezes at the sale and was impressive when she stretched out to the 1/4 mile distance, earning a seven-over-Par BreezeFig. Miss Shipley was just one-over-Par at 1/8 at that sale, and the RNA filly, Stormy Tricia, was five over at the same distance, but Miss Shipley might be more serious because her stride length was longer. Gold Minx might actually be able to win this race if the hot firsters burn each other out.

Calder Race Course, , Maiden Special, 6 1/2 Furlongs

She's likely to go off favorite in this short field of fillies, but if she's ready, Heartbreak Lake looks pretty much like a solid bet here making her first start. She was a serious horse at last year's OBSAPR sale with a four-over-Par BreezeFig at a 1/4 mile, and she had an exceptionally long stride length in that work. She has been training well for her long-delayed debut, and should be taken seriously.
