BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 25, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
It was a very good week for BreezeFigs maidens even though our Pick last week tanked a bit—Top Hat Hustle had no speed but the chartcaller liked his “nice late move.” On the other hand, Creative Artist, whom we did not like, finished up a tasty trifecta. There were 11 3-year-olds who came home on top at Belmont (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta); Churchill, Delaware, Indiana, Lone Star, Monmouth, Pimlico and Santa Anita (two at both, including a BreezeFigs exacta at both). The 2-year-olds scored three times at Churchill, Prairie Meadows and Santa Anita, so that crowd is breaking out. There’s only one first-timer Saturday among the 3-year-olds and not a good play, but the three on the 2-year-old card are worth looking at, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Belmont Park, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
Karak is 4-to-5 on the morning line, extremely unusual in a maiden baby race, but she has the connections, sold for a ton at OBSMAR after posting a seven-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 25.03 foot stride length (SL), about three-quarters of a foot above average for fillies that day at a furlong. Short field, including a three-part entry, over to you.
Gulfstream Park, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 4 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
The two BreezeFigs fillies in here, both of which were not sold (RNA) at their respective sales, both of which chalked up two-under-Par BreezeFigs, so we are looking for gimmick plays here. Run Devil posted a Group 3 profile at OBSAPR with a 24.44 foot SL, about a quarter foot longer than average that day for fillies at a quarter mile, and was RNA’d for 30k. Gold Included was not sold for 75k at OBSMAR after posting a Group 4 profile with a 23.71 foot SL, more than half-foot shorter than average for fillies that day at an eighth. We like Run Devil more than Gold Included but you should watch the board and play as you wish. Good luck!
