BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, May 22, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Although our Pick last week just barely made it up to complete a superfecta, there were nine 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens who scored during the week and one baby who pummeled his field and is one to watch. The latter was Little Drama who took full advantage of his 26-foot stride length (SL) to gallop over his rivals Sunday at Belmont. The sophomores won at Belterra, Churchill, Gulfstream (two), Lone Star, Louisiana Downs, Parx (two, including a BreezeFigs trifecta), and Thistledown. Today’s 2-year-old card has only one race on it, but it’s our play of the day., see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Churchill Downs, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)
There are some nicely bred, and expensive, colts in here, including a 530k BreezeFigs purchase whom we like that might be your key. That would be Roger McQueen who scored a six-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSMAR with a 25.29 foot stride length (SL), almost a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. The next day Buckingham Prince tried the same distance and came up short with a four-under-Par Group 3 profile that included a 23.32 foot SL, almost a foot-and-a-half shorter than average that day. He’s got connections that may cause the crowd to bet him down further than his 6-to-1 morning line but we’ll got with Roger McQueen, whose 3-to-1 morning line may look generous at the end. Good luck!
