Not saying that he would have finished second but our sneaky Pick Airlite, who went off at 9-to-1, did stumble when he hit the dirt off the downhill course at Santa Anita last week, but he did complete the trifecta with our other Pick, and favorite, Lauren’s Ladd, which was therefore not a total loss. There were three other BreezeFigs 3-year-old maiden winners at Santa Anita last week, along with six others at Assiniboia, Belterra, Churchill, Gulfstream and Parx. BreezeFigs maidens won two of the four 2-year-old races in which they raced, continuing a hot streak that will not continue today since none are entered anywhere. However, we have found a nugget among the 3-year-olds, see below. Good luck! If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf. Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Parx, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt) The purpose of this column is to find BreezeFigs first-time starters who might offer some value. Today there is only one first-timer on the card, and the cleverly named R Shade of Gray looks promising at 6-to-1 in this event. She posted a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR last year with a 25.23 foot stride length, which was just over two feet longer than average that day for fillies at one eighth. That’s a bit astounding because she was subsequently scratched (SCR) from the sale before it started, which may mean she came out of it with a physical issue that has taken a year to work itself out. Whatever the reason, she is one to watch on the board, and to play judiciously. Good luck!
