BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 19, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our Pix “saver” last week, Beau Belle, showed she could move up on the weeds to complete the exacta while our key, Don’t Stop Maria, ran on gamely but just missed filling out the superfecta. On the whole not a bad week for BreezeFigs maidens with another 2-year-old winner, Tijori, coming through at Santa Anita, and eight 3-year-olds getting off the schneid: at Belmont, Churchill, Louisiana Downs (BreezeFigs exacta), Pimlico (two, one BreezeFigs exacta), Prairie Meadows, Santa Anita and Woodbine. BreezeFigs colts filled the trifecta in the Laz Barrera at Santa Anita (Kanthaka, Beautiful Shot, Zulfikar) and the exacta in the Peter Pan at Belmont (Blended Citizen and Core Beliefs). Saturday's card has only one first-time starter, which is not a bad bet, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Dirt)
The Mighty Judge, the only BreezeFigs first-time starter on the 3-year-old card, threw in two diametrically opposed efforts last year at the sales. He chalked up a one-under-Par Group 4 tally at FTFMAR with a 23.41 foot stride length (SL), which was a quarter foot shorter than the average for colts that day at a one-eighth. But he was scratched (SCR) after he breezed and came back at OBSJUN, with a three-under-Par Group 3 effort at a quarter mile, but his 24.76 foot SL was a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at the distance. He brought $240k off that work and is stuck on the rail, but listed at 4-to-1. We are not dancing in the aisles over his win chances but he is a good gimmick play and if the board says so, perhaps a key. Good luck!
