BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 11, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Wasn’t a very good Derby Day for Pix either. While one of our gimmick plays at Santa Anita managed to fill out a huge superfecta, our 2-year-old pounce flounced. Still, it was a very good day for other BreezeFigs runners as seven of the 3-year-olds broke their maidens with two of them in a dead heat at Belmont in addition to three winners at Santa Anita and solos at Mountaineer and Tampa. There were eight other BreezeFigs maiden winners last week in addition to this bunch; they came at Belmont (two), Churchill, Delaware, Gulfstream, Indiana, Santa Anita and Woodbine (BreezeFigs exacta). Saturday's cards are interesting with lots of opportunities among the 3-year-olds, including a sneaky one, and a pretty decent shot in the baby file—see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

3-year-olds:

Churchill Downs, 11th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

Barracuda is hardly a name you’d likely hang on a filly but this one is the lone BreezeFigs entrant in in here and though she’s on the rail she has interesting connections and a very good BreezeFigs profile. She posted a four-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR last year with a 25.18 foot stride length (SL), more than a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. At 15-to-1 she looks like a decent gimmick play.

2-year-olds:

Gulfstream Park, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)

Bay Society brings a four-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR into this one and based on her average SL of 24.27 and the way she moved that day she might be worthy of a key play even though she is on the rail--her 6-to-1 morning line odds indicate someone might know something. Good luck!
