BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, May 1, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
After our sneaky longshot Pick at Gulfstream got bumped at the start and cut off shortly thereafter we could only grin from ear-to-ear as our Golden Gate Pick was spot-on as our choice Tiz an Edventure scooted home at $13.40 with our other key, favored Nobu, completing a modest trifecta. There were 16 other BreezeFigs maidens who won last week all over the country at: Belmont (BreezeFigs exacta), Charles Town (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Evangeline, Finger Lakes, Gulfstream, Oaklawn (two), Parx, Penn National, Pimlico, Santa Anita, Tampa Bay (three), and Thistledown (BreezeFigs exacta). Despite a shortage of first-timers across the country on Kentucky Derby Day we found a very interesting play elsewhere, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Belmont Parks, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Turf)
This could be a proverbial speed clash with first-timer Crowding Out putting his freakish 16-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSAPR out there along with his 25.72 foot stride length (SL),which was a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s at a possibly generous 7-to-2 in the morning line. He’ll come up against Quick Conversation whose debut at Tampa Bay franked his OBSJUN form where he posted a five-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 24.71 foot SL, more than a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong, both factors justifying his 3-to-1 morning line status. This looks like it could be a BreezeFigs exacta either way but both of them deserve key status. Good luck!
