BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, March 7th

Bob Fierro|Mar 06, 2009

Once warned, twice burned we might just stay away from 5 and 5½ furlong maiden sprints at major tracks for 3-year-olds now that we got the clock cleaned again last week in a four-horse photo for second in which our Pix were third, fourth and fifth. It was still a good week for BreezeFigs-qualified winners across the country, however, topped by first-timer Nemo Landing's $43 payoff at in Sunday s 10th race at Oaklawn. This week s card has some interesting maiden races where first-timers look fairly good, so sign up for DRF-Plus and get the card on the front page of .

Remember, there s a new look to our sheets for the sales of 2008 we have added SURFACE as a new category to tell you whether the horse breezed on a dirt (D) or synthetic (S) track. There are four (S) sales this year OBSFEB, OBSMAR, OBSAPR and KEEAPR; and three D sales FTFFEB, BARMAR and EASMAY. Just to add some more insight to your handicapping.

Also, our rules still hold about BreezeFigs qualified runners: You can get a good idea of what qualified BreezeFigs horses are by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide on those sheets as well.

Also, refer to a study we did which shows that using BreezeFigs for 3-year-old maiden races in just as viable as using them for 2-year-old maiden races. Go to the DRF PLUS box on the .

Aqueduct's has several BreezeFigs horses in allowances and in the Gotham, but this one sneaks into a competitive maiden race. Good luck!

Aqueduct, , Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

This field of state-breds has a couple of pricey yearling sales horses, as well as Not Ja Mama, who fetched a queenly $220k at EASMAY as a 2-year-old after earning a two-over-Par Group 2 BreezeFigs profile at a quarter mile. She showed a 24 foot SL in that breeze, which was three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies at that distance that day, so she can stretch out and roll if she gets off well. She comes from a hot barn in a race loaded with potential tote-board flashers, so pay attention and use her whatever way you wish, but don t leave her out. Good luck!
