BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, March 7, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Well, we picked the right race last week and the right horse as Edgeway got pounded down to 9-to-5 and won like an odds-on favorite. The nice thing is that Cynical Girl came along to complete a very generous $18 BreezeFigs exacta. The rest of the week was very strange—not many races and only three BreezeFigs maidens won, all at Gulfstream, where one resulted in a BreezeFigs exacta. There was also a BreezeFigs exacta in the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream. Today’s card is also somewhat weak (except that the universe will be on board with Gamine in the sixth at Santa Anita), but we found one that might not be on your radar, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Penn National, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
You’re not likely to see these three BreezeFigs fillies in Graded stakes any time soon, but you might want to take a chance on Majestic Greeley whose seven-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSJUN included a 24.76 foot stride length (SL) which was more than a third-of-a-foot longer than average that day. But she did not sell (RNA) on a final bid of 22k, maybe because she’s not the most graceful mover. Morning line favorite Fullmoon Bay has run a couple of times and not really improved on her KEEAPR profile where she racked up a one over Par Group 2 profile that included a 23.70 foot SL that was almost a foot below average—she was an RNA at 145k. The other first-timer here, Union Rally, is likely to get some play but her two-under-Par Group 3 profile at OBSMAR featured a 23.17 foot SL, well over a foot below average. All these fillies breezed a quarter mile. We’re inclined to put Majestic Greeley in a key with whichever one looks best on the board.. Good luck!
