BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, March 4, 2017 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

This time we got it right as our key, Crawford, came on again in the stretch to beat our second key, Visionary Tale, with one of our gimmick plays, The Red Dude, coming up to complete a BreezeFigs exacta-trifecta in last week’s Pick. Granted, the payoffs weren’t all that big, but it was nice to see the wealth spread around. There were fourteen other BreezeFigs maidens who came home on top last week at: Aqueduct (a BreezeFigs exacta); Fair Grounds (two), Gulfstream (four), Laurel, Oaklawn, Santa Anita (four, including a BreezeFigs exacta), and Tampa Bay (a BreezeFigs superfecta). There are some interesting plays on Saturday's card but one of them will probably be in a key race, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Gulfstream Park, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Dirt)

Three BreezeFigs graduates are listed in this one which is loaded with pedigree pundits’ dreams. Two of them are firsters, both with at least a decent shot at being gimmick plays—and if they get lucky, either can come home on top. Unauthorized Use had a useful even-Par Group 2 breeze at OBSJUN where he popped over with a 25.33 foot stride length (SL), almost a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a furlong, good form in any sale, but he brought only 25k. Texican posted a two-under-Par Group 3 ticket at the pricier OBSMAR sale where his 24.54 SL was just above average for colts that day at a quarter mile—a decent showing—but he was not sold (RNA) at 195k. Giuseppe the Great did well in his debut and will be among the favorites in this crowd where he might be able to spring loose based on his four-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR where he tossed in an astounding 27.22 foot SL (we double checked), more than two and three-quarters feet longer than average for colts that day at an eighth. He, too, was led out of the ring unsold at 70k. We’re not looking for another BreezeFigs trifecta here, but each of them is worth a gimmick play in one way or another—and watch the board for any other plays that might be worth it. Good luck!
