Though she got beat by a head, no one who saw our Pick Gold Standard close like a shot in the last sixteenth will ignore her in the future. They pounded her down to favoritism and this one will go onto to live up to her name in the future, watch for her. There were five BreezeFigs maidens who won last week, but there were a lot of gimmick fillers along the way so you might have done well in that respect. The winners came at Charles Town (BreezeFigs exacta), Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (two, including a BreezeFigs trifecta) and Tampa Bay. Today marks the return of racing at Santa Anita and we’ve snuck one of our Pix in from there, as well as another at Gulfstream, see below. Good luck!

Gulfstream Park, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)

Go for a Ride is on the rail but there’s enough distance in this race to allow him to settle and justify his $525k OBSAPR price as well as his one-over-Par Group 2 ticket which featured a 25.22 foot stride length (SL), two-thirds of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He’s a generous 12-to-1 and worth a gimmick shot. Freedom’s Flight was scratched (SCR) after breezing at the same sale on a different day at a furlong where his three-under-Par Group 3 effort featured an identical 25.22 foot SL, which was four-fifths of a foot longer than average. He’s had three shots so far and the two on turf seem to justify his 6-to-1 morning line, so he, too, is worth a gimmick look, but we prefer the other one.

Santa Anita Park, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

She may never get more than six furlongs but if she is tight enough to run Sybil’s Kitty could shock the crowd in this one given her 15-to-1 morning line. She pounded her way to a six-over-Par Group 1 standing at OBSAPR last year where her 24.95 foot SL was almost a foot longer than average for fillies that day at an eighth. My Miss Rose posted a three-over-Par Group 2 profile at a quarter mile at OBSJUN where her 25.72 foot SL was more than a foot and a quarter longer than average that day, but she was scratched from the sale (SCR) after that so it doesn’t appear in the PPs. Worth a look. Vangogo has been off since August where she ran OK in her second start reflecting her one-over-Par Group 2 effort at a furlong at OBSAPR where her 25.41 SL was a foot and a half longer than average at a furlong—but she’s on the rail and could get stuck. Each of these fillies are key worthy but if Sybil’s Kitty is ready and handled patiently, she could do it at a good price. Good luck!
