BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, March 28, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our Pix last week were quickly dealt with—both scratched. Of course, the pandemic has taken its toll on all racing activities that were once considered normal, including the number of races in which BreezeFigs maidens run. During the week four of them broke their maidens—at Fair Grounds, Gulfstream, Oaklawn and Santa Anita, plus three others won stakes including the Louisiana Derby. Today’s card is very limited but there are three first-time starters, all of which deserve attention, see below Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Tampa Bay, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
She’s not the smoothest mover but Malibeauty posted a four-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR where her 25.68 foot stride length (SL) was more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a quarter mile. Stuck on the rail, she will need some luck but is a logical key at her morning line 3-to-1 odds.
Tampa Bay, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, One Mile (Turf)
Gravitas showed motion that indicated he might prefer the turf and his four-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR featuring a 25.01 foot SL was more than a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Right surface, right distance, decent odds (8-to-1), logical key.
Santa Anita, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Uncle Addouma threw in a four-over-Par Group 2 ticket at EASMAY with a 26.24 foot SL, more than two and a third feet longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s morning line favorite and like the other Pix a logical key. Good luck!
