BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, March 25th
Saturday there are a ton of races all over the country to play, but we like two opportunities:
Gulfstream, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs
Very few in this field have run, leaving it open for a firster, and we think Cat Man Morgan is very intriguing. He was an RNA (not sold) at two sales last year, drawing a final bid of $240,000 at FTFFEB, a great sale, and $90,000 at OBSJUN, a far more modest sale. He had a 24.5 foot stride length in the first sale when he was three over Par and a 25 foot stride length in the second sale when he was four over Par. Both stride lengths are well above average, but he is probably a big horse and should have a long stride. Take a look at him--if he's modest sized, he's a solid bet; if he's a big horse, he's in good enough hands to figure in the finish. Another RNA, Mutate, out of the OBSMAR sale might be a saver for the gimmicks--he was just under Par at that sale and might come along late.
Santa Anita, , Maiden Special, Mile (Turf)
We gave you Feel the Rush a month ago in her first turf start, and she almost made it to the wire after being a little hard used early, and we see no reason not to take her back in this race. It's at a mile, and maybe she will be able to relax now--she had a 10 over Par BreezeFig at the BARMAR sale last year, a real solid number, and she looks like she will have a lot of competition today, but we still like her chances because she had a 23.6 foot stride length in her trial and was going steady throughout. Use her.
