BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, March 24, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
It’s not often that we give you two Pix, and it’s nice when one of them wins. So perhaps we can be forgiven for our little happy dance last Saturday after Happiness buried her field at Tampa ($16.80) following Miss Jak’s out-of-the-clouds move as the $7.00 favorite at Gulfstream (out of which she was claimed). These two were among the 15 BreezeFigs maidens that won last week. The other 13 came at Aqueduct (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Fair Grounds (four), Golden Gate (two, both races on Saturday), Gulfstream (a BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel (two), Santa Anita and Turf Paradise. Saturday’s card is loaded with possibilities but we found a sneaky one that might be worth a look, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
If Zippy Willy is at 3-to-5 in the morning line, then this one-under-Par Group 4 graduate of FTFMAR last year may well be fancied off his decent profile and 23.92 foot stride length, which was about a quarter foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong—and he did it on this surface where this year’s FTFMAR sale will take place this coming week. He was scratched (SCR) before the auction began so you won’t see this reference in the PP’s but his debut, also on this track, was solid. The other two BreezeFigs horses in here have gimmick shots based on their comparative profiles. Suas, the first-timer, posted a two-over-Par Group 1 profile at EASMAY last year with a 23.58 foot SL, just about a fifth of a foot shorter than average that day for colts at an eighth—but he failed to sell at 18k (RNA) so this is also not listed in his PP’s. And Still comes in here off a good second in his debut on the turf which franked his form at OBSAPR last year where he posted a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 24.11 foot SL, more than half-a-foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong—and he sold for $225k so he might have some talent. He needs to get involved early from the rail. These three are worth fooling with if you watch the board. Good luck!
