BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, March 23, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLEOur Pick last week, Firecrow, was used too early but at least he managed to complete the super, if you were so inclined. On the other hand, on the same card at Tampa Bay the three maiden races in which there was a BreezeFigs horse were won by a BreezeFigs horse—in two of them the only one in the field. Otherwise it was a fairly typical week for this time of year—the 10 BreezeFigs maiden winners popped up at Aqueduct (two), Charles Town, Parx, Sam Houston (two) plus another one at Tampa Bay. Like last week, our Pick Saturday is at the track with all the Triple Crown attention, and it’s a quality selection, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Fair Grounds, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, About a Mile (Turf)
The aptly named Gold Standard was a $1.2 million purchase at FTFMAR last year, and since that sale is this weekend it’s perhaps appropriate that she appears as the lone BreezeFigs entrant in this field. Her surprising 7-to-2 morning line odds reflects the fact that except for her last work she has not quite burned up the track in the morning. That’s her modus operandus, however, based on her even-Par Group 2 at the sale where her 24.12 foot stride length (SL) was about a quarter foot shorter than average for fillies that day at an eighth. She needs time to settle, and a mile around two turns on the turf is quite up her alley if she is not pushed early. Pounce. Good luck!
