Breezefigs Quick Pix for Saturday, March 21 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
We were not rudely interrupted last week—we were off at the OBSMAR sale where more than 500 horses breezed, many of them quite impressively—they will pop up on the BreezeFigs cards when 2-year-old racing commences this Spring. Meanwhile, Chipit, our last Pick before we departed scored nicely in his debut, and during that week 18 other BreezeFigs maidens scored their first triumph. This past week another 13 lost their “best friend,” and the wealth was spread all over the place. Today’s card is nearly all in the Sunbelt, which is not surprising given what’s going on outdoors, but we’ve found one race that could be a no-brainer with a possible surprise kicker, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Santa Anita Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs, (Dirt)
Two BreezeFigs fillies are in here, both making their debuts, both out of OBSAPR where they breezed on separate days. One of the likely favorites, Exposure, went a quarter mile on the last day of the breezes and racked up a seven-over-Par Group 1 profile aided by a 24.59 foot stride length, almost a foot and a quarter above average for fillies that day at the distance. The day before, Betterlethergo posted a two-under-Par Group 3 profile at one-eighth that featured a 24.80 foot stride length, a foot and a third longer than average for fillies that day at that distance. Though not overwhelming, she looks like she needs a little time to get into gear, but if she does, she might be a very decent gimmick play with Exposure, who is your key here. Good luck!
