BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, March 20, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Neither of our Pix last week seemed to be all that interested in running although one did complete a trifecta at Aqueduct. On the other hand 10 BreezeFigs maidens won during the week at Golden Gate, Gulfstream, Laurel, Oaklawn (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Parx, Penn National, Tampa Bay and Turfway. The first 2-year-old sale of the year took place last week in Ocala (OBSMAR) and we’ll soon be seeing those juveniles racing come April. Meanwhile, we have a couple of shots on today’s card that might pay off, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Fair Grounds, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weigh, Mile (Turf)
Win Worthy comes into this one sporting a two-over-Par Group 1 profile from OBSAPR where his 25.07 foot stride length (SL) was two-thirds of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. On the other hand Shaldag has failed to live up to his form at OBSMAR where his six-over-Par Group 1 standing featured a 25.01 foot SL that was seven-eighths of a foot longer than average that day at a furlong—and he still has not justified his $385k RNA price (not sold). We think Win Worthy might live up to his name in this one and might be good enough to be a key, and Shaldag has the connections to slip him into the gimmick.
Oaklawn Park, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Chicago Chrome blew the doors off at OBSAPR with an eight-over-Par Group 1 performance that featured a 25.08 foot SL, more than half-a-foot longer than average that day for colts at a furlong. Pizza Charlie failed to deliver a slice at this level in his last start which reflects his three-under-Par Group 4 ticket at OBSJUN where his 24.23 foot SL was a few inches short of the average for colts that day at a quarter mile. We like the morning line on Chicago Chrome and think he should be your key. Good luck!
