BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, March 16, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Back from OBSMAR, the first 2-year-old sale of the year, and what a scene it was. The synthetic track was lightning fast for all three days which made for longer stride lengths (SL) and BreezeFigs that were through the roof. But in the end the ones that sold best were the ones that generally scored well on our BreezeFigs performance criteria. We shall see how they work out in a couple of months or so. Meanwhile, there were 13 BreezeFigs maidens who won last week at six tracks, four of them on Friday and four on Saturday, so these cards keep paying off. The winners came at Aqueduct (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Fair Grounds (two), Golden Gate (two), Gulfstream (three), Mahoning Valley and Tampa Bay (two). Saturday's card has some tasty tidbits throughout, but there’s one that stands out, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Oaklawn Park, 11th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
The split Rebel Stakes may focus everyone’s attention on the proven 3-year-olds earlier in the day, but keep your eye on Firecrow in this race, The lone BreezeFigs entry, this one floated to a two-over-Par Group 2 performance at EASMAY last year with a 25 foot stride length (SL) which was more than a half-foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s on the outside in this big field, but is listed at 4-to-1, so you might have a chance for a bit of a bonus for your day if you key this one. Good luck!
