BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, June 9th

Bob Fierro|Jun 08, 2007

Close but no cigar at Hollywood last week, but three more first-time BreezeFigs 2YO maiden winners during the week, all of which had longer than average stride lengths (SL). Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide--you can get a good idea by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there.

There are seven maiden 2YO races across the country on Saturday that have attracted BreezeFigs horses. Here are two opportunities:

Delaware Park, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

Three BreezeFigs horses in this race all look like good bets. Vanderkaay worked a bullet last out and had a Group 2 BreezeFig of 67 at the FTFFEB sale but did it with a SL that was almost a foot short of average. Still, he might be OK at this distance. Faneuil Hall was an OBSAPR grad with a four-over-Par Group 1 BreezeFig and a SL that was just above average, but about the same as Vanderkaay's. The horse that looks the best here is part of the entry. Do not be scared off by the 21 days off in mid-May from Loveyouintheworld. This horse breezed 3 furlongs at the EASMAY sale just prior to the Preakness where he earned a Group1 61 (high was 62) going those three panels with a SL of 23.6 ft--very nice for that distance.

Calder, , Maiden Special, 4 1/2 Furlongs

The owner of Street Sense plucked Dazzling Princess out of the OBSAPR sale for 35k and left her in Florida where she has a good shot in this race. A Group 2 filly with an enormous 25.5 foot stride (2 1/2 feet longer than average for that sale), Dazzling Princess earned a par 60 BreezeFig going 2 furlongs. With great works the last two times she has been to the track the 10-to-1 morning line looks tempting, indeed.
