BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 9, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Despite both our Pix not getting a photo taken in the winner’s circle (one finished third, the other fourth), it was a revelatory week for BreezeFigs maidens, especially the 2-year-olds. Six babies broke their maidens at: Belmont (BreezeFigs exacta), Emerald Downs, Gulfstream, Laurel, Santa Anita and Woodbine at win payoffs up to $22. The sophomores did well also with a seven breaking their maidens at: Belmont, Gulfstream (two), Monmouth, Parx, Santa Anita and Woodbine. With the Belmont Stakes card likely to take up a lot of your dough, we found a race in each division on Saturday's card at another track, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Santa Anita, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)
With three BreezeFigs first-timers in here, we are faced with picking among three colts that had very similar profiles at OBSMAR, one of which, Parsimony, is listed at 3-to-1. He posted a four-over-Par Group 1 ticket with a 25.21 foot stride length (SL), three-fifths of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Two Fifty Coup posted a four-over-Par Group 1 ticket on a different day with a 25.40 foot SL, three-quarters of a foot longer than average that day. Thin Line breezed on another day at the same distance and posted an even-Par Group 2 effort with a 24.81 foot SL, more than half-a-foot longer than average. The latter two are at double-digit odds in the morning line and while we might recommend that you key Parsimony, we would watch the board to see whether you might want to toss one or both of the others into your gimmicks.
3-Year-Olds
Santa Anita, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
There and Back brought $400k at OBSJUN last year after posting a nine-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 26.01 foot SL, which was a foot longer than colts that day at a quarter mile. He’s on the rail and at 9-to-5, so he is probably your key here. There are two other first time BreezeFigs colts, Cold Brew Kid and Goren. The former came out of BARMAR with a five-over-Par Group 2 ticket and a 26.21 foot SL—two feet longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Goren, on the other hand, was a two-under-Par Group 3 number at FTFMAR with a 24.46 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average. The other two BreezeFigs colts, Belden Avenue and Runaway Saturday, have started and not impressed. We’d look carefully at throwing longshot Cold Brew Kid into your gimmicks, and lay off Goren unless the board tells you otherwise. Good luck!
