BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, June 8, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Let us not ponder over last week’s results except to say we still can’t figure it out. On the other hand, the 2-year-old season is heating up with four BreezeFigs maidens winning last week at Belmont (a BreezeFigs trifecta), Indiana, Monmouth and Woodbine (previous BreezeFigs Pick). Another quartet of winners popped up on the 3-year-old slate at Belterra, Churchill, Laurel and Penn National. Today’s crowded cards are geared toward complementing the Belmont Stakes card quality wise, but we found a first-time 2-year-old and first-time 3-year-old to consider—at the same track with the same trainer, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds:
Churchill Downs, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)
Zyramid comes into this one with bells and whistles as the 2-to-1 favorite, which is justified by his five-over-Par Group 1 ticket at FTFMAR where his 23.93 stride length (SL) was just above average for colts that day at a furlong. But you won’t find that sale in the PP’s because he was scratched after the breeze (SCR), but you’ve got that data here. Nice colt.
3-Year-Olds:
Churchill Downs, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)
Confessing brought $875k after chalking up a nine-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR last year with a 24.97 foot SL, about a quarter foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. She has taken her time to get to the races, but they have hung a 4-to-1 tag on her in the morning line, and she is worth looking at closely as a gimmick bet. A previous Pick, Gold Standard, is on the dirt-only AE’s, which puzzles us because she is nicely accomplished to date on the turf. If she gets in, she also might be worth a gimmick shot, so check the weather forecast!. Good luck!
